We Had A Time

We had a really great party. At least I thought so. It was kind of overwhelming. We showed some photographs, some of our own, and outside (see above) we had some 'best of' Disposable Day submissions hanging from a clothes line that folks could view with that adorable freaking lantern.

This Disposable Day is actually a submission, and it is hella awesome. Seriously beyond my wildest expectations. Anne by far surpasses the three of us when wielding a disposable camera. I'll let her tell you the rest. 

Medium Format Filmz, a New Found Love by Zach

So I've been worried about film and film cameras lately. Well okay, let me rephrase, I've been antsy about the subject. It's been on my mind constantly. Mostly because of Filmzblog starting up, but also when I start to think about how there are so many great film cameras in the world waiting to be used either on sale in someone's front yard or sitting in a box in a garage somewhere, it really makes me want to collect and most importantly use film cameras.

Last week we started getting a steady stream of Disposable Cameras back in the mail, and are busy processing & scanning all of the negatives. In the interim, my roommate Dave Frank kindly agreed to take a camera out with him on Halloween. Here's a few select shots from his evening.

I've been properly jealous of Anthony Maddaloni's film skillz for awhile, and so it is with the greatest pleasure that I now present you with a wee taste of his awesome photographs so that we may all be jealous together. After spending some time transfixed by his blog, I chose this selection of images because together they capture something so authentically Austin. For out-of-towners our city motto is "Keep Austin Weird", and this city is always up for a celebration. We celebrate music, hot sauce, Day of the Dead, kites, spring time, Eeyore's birthday, books, film (the movie kind), art, bikes, the full moon, and so so much more. Give us a reason and we'll be there with beer and ridiculous outfits.

Every spring, the University of Texas holds a big campus-wide event called Forty Acres Fest. It's intended to get people from UT and the community together to play games and learn about diversity. Or something. I don't know; I've only been once, and I went to the kids' section. They had a bouncy house. It was awesome.
